Hello all, Newby midi sound question here..

2005-09-01 by user5234b

Hey everyone.

I'm new to Logic express and this board and I'd like some help please.

I just got Logic express installed and I can't get any midi sounds coming out at all.

I can't hear anything midi, it apparently records as I see the notes in the arrange window
when using the keyboard for entry and I see the track sound meter blipping up and down.

While I was out I let my friend mess with Logic and he has no clue what he did. I don't
know if the midi sounds would have worked before he messed with it but they don't know.

Can anyone point me in the right direction, it might be easier for you to assume all the
midi settings are messed up.

Running OS X 10.3.9.

Without any external midi devices I'm trying to get the built in midi to make sounds first.

I'm pretty sure my midi drivers (stock OS X) are set up ok because in garage band I can
make midi tracks/sounds using the KB.

I tried searching the board for a fix but I couldn't find one.

Thanks a lot.

its hard to say. select the track you are playing back and look at the parameters at left and check the port and channel to see if they agree with the keyboard. you might also try making a virtual instrument track and moving the midi to that track to see if sounds. another thing you can do is open the midi in the event list editor - and check the midi channel. this gets me sometimes - it seems logic will allow you to record various midi channels on a track despite what the midi track is set to.
if all else fails go through the set up wizzard again.

Move to quarantaine
