Showing the Channel Strip to the LEFT of the Instr. Params Pane

Showing the Channel Strip to the LEFT of the Instr. Params Pane

2005-10-20 by Michael Sirotta

Hi all,

Here's a query.

In the screen shot Apple uses to promote Logic(<http://www.apple.com/logicpro/>), the
Arrange window is shown with the channel strip separated from the strip of the Instrument
parameter controls (MIDI Thru, MIDI Channel, etc.)and also the tools pane. It is on the left
side of those panes, which for me would make operations a lot easier, if I could attain that
view. However, I can't. My channel strip appears below the others and the plugin/insert/
send functions get hidden behind the other controls when the window is horizontally tiled
with a matrix editor, or other window. A lot of dragging needs to be done to the the
arrange window to access these.

Placing the channel strip off to the left (as the photo shows) would solve this for me, only I
can't get my software to do this (or can't figure out how).

I thought the upgrade to 7.1.1 was the answer to this since the same screenshot is shown
on the upgrade page, but after upgrading, there was no change to my channel strip's
locale.

Choosing "Channel Strip Only" is a partial solution, but that hides the other parameter
panes & the editing tools which is still a PITA.

What the pic shows would be best, but how is this done?

Can anyone solve this puzzle for me?

Thanks,
Michael

Oops, my mistake. The picture does not show the parameter panes. Apparently what I
wishfully thought I saw is not currently achievable.

Floating palettes, Apple, floating palettes!
