Vinyl Effects

2006-01-23 by bleeding_medium

Hello there,

Posted on Logic_Users but just noticed there's not been much going on
there of late.

So...

Has anyone come up with a good "stopping vinyl" effect? Rather than
bouncing the whole tune, I'd like it to work in realtime - an insert on
the master bus, perhaps?

Do you mean slowing down the pitch as when a record player is turned off? I
was playing with DSP Quattro last night and you can play back the audio
faster or slower, and even alter the speed while its playing to get a slow down or
speed up effect. Of course, its a stand alone program so you can't run it from
Logic. But you can do it live. Its very easy and fun.

When I saw Phil Jackson's demo yesterday, he said something about Serrato's
Pitch and Time being built into Logic, but he just used the existing (and
slightly dated) PItch/Time Machine thats been in Logic for nearly a decade. Did
something change under the hood?

I don't know if anything changed under the hood but Serato's Pitch 'n'
Time is *not* being built into Logic AFAIK. There will be a
Logic-specific version of Pitch 'n' Time that you can purchase. I
don't know if it will require 7.2 or not. BTW, 7.2 was announced by
Apple and it is the first Universal Binary version of Logic and will be
available in March.

May not be exactly what you describe- but this is very interesting for
vinyl-type effects...

All,

Cheers for that. I was hoping for a master bus insert, but it does
sound pretty good so it's worth a bit of messing around, I think.

Cheers,
Dean
