Album Mastering in Logic

Album Mastering in Logic

2006-02-15 by bleeding_medium

Hello,

I've been experimenting with mastering an album in Logic: assigning
whole songs to tracks for a seemless transition and also adding
incidental, between-song parts.

It seems sensible I could add "global" compression settings, say, to
the whole album to get a consistant sound throughout - but is Logic
really the best tool for the job, given I have to chop it up again in
an external WAV editor?

Cheers,
Dean

It's probably not the best tool for the job since it's a composing/recording
tool and not a mastering tool (like Waveburner and the likes, which was made
for jobs like these), but it can do the job quite nicely. As for cutting up
the audiofile, you could cut it into segments in the arrange window and then
export the regions as separate audiofiles in the audio window.
