Load mpc 2000xl files in EXS24 sampler - is it possible?

Load mpc 2000xl files in EXS24 sampler - is it possible?

2006-04-11 by Jr

Hi I have a zip disk full of samples that I used in my MPC 2000xl. I copied them onto my
mac using a usb zip drive. However, now I have them on my mac, I'm trying to get them
into the EXS sampler. The mac won't read the file format. They are all in .SND format. Is
there a way to convert it? If so which software should I use? Cuz Logic, Quicktime, iTunes
won't do it.

I read other forum entries on Akai conversions, but they didn't seem to apply to this
situation.

I'd appreciate any help anyone can give on this.

Thanks

Sel.

Hi Sel,

I made the leap from MPC to Logic about a year ago, and I've got to
say its the best move I've done (and I've got some pretty good ones.)

Anyway, I had no luck importing .APS into EXS, but once samples are
loaded on the Akai you can choose to resave them as WAVs, which are
far friendlier.

I've pretty much drawn a line under my old stuff now and moved on;
Logic changed the way I do everything anyway, and consequently,
changed my music too. [For the better, I think...]

I believe that both Translator (http://www.chickensys.com) and CDXtract
(http://www.cdxtract.com) will convert these. Try the demos of these.
While the demos are limited somewhat, they may have enough
functionality that you can convert these if you do not have a need to
purchase the full version. HTH,

Thanks for the tip. I was a ProTools user and I switched to Logic. I don't see myself going back to ProTools. I'm thinking of selling my MPC now that I'm using the EXS. Logic was the best move for me.
I appreciate the help I will give this a try.
