Here is a recap of the Orange County Logic group. There are some good links below for FREE plugs :

--------------------------------------------------------
We had a great OC Logic Pro User Group 2nd meeting Thursday night. Only
about 22 people showed up, but, that
s to be expected during the summer
vacation/touring time. We also had 4 new people this month.

If you missed the June group meeting, here
s what we covered:

I showed basic hook up to the MOTU (Mark of the Unicorn) 896HD, a FireWire
audio device, from scratch. From downloading the drivers, inspecting the
changes in the AMS (Audio Midi Set Up) to selecting the device driver in
Logic via the Main Menu>Audio>Audio Hardware and Drivers
Drivers Tab and
click holding on the driers field to select the new driver. I then demoed
how easy it was to hook up the Roland FA-66 FireWire audio interface;
basically plug and play and Logic recognized it no drivers to down load.

Next Tonee McGuire demonstrated the Stylus RMX and gave a hand out on how
to turn it into a multi-output device using the Aux
s as returns for the
RMX. You had to be there for this one! If you want a copy of the hand out
I
ll get an electronic file from Tonee and send a copy to any who need it.
RMX is way swingin

Finally, Darren Burgos continued on the Plug-In theme and showed us the
Vector Envelop of the ES2 from Logic
s virtual synths. He did a way cool
trick to have the vector envelope pulse in time with any tempo changes. You
had to be there! Darren also gave us a hand out of a whole slew of plug-ins
available on the net, many of which are free. He then showed how to
add/change icons on Logic to customize our Arrange windows you can go to
http://www.logicprofiles.com for a bunch of free Icons. If you weren
t at
the meeting don
t try this yourself! You may end up having to re-install
Logic!

Here
s Darrens list of AudioUnit Plug-Ins from the net:

Free AudioUnit plug-ins and synths:

1.BitViewer, MONSTAChorus, s(M)exoscope, Bouncy, daHornet, Chip32,
TickyClav, Cyanide2, SlimSlowSlider, CheeseMachine, C3MultbandCompressor,
Decimator, MadShifta, CrayonFilter, CowDelay, BlackWaterReverb:

13. Multi-Delay:

14: Jack OS X: http://www.jackosx.com/

15. Pluggo Junior: http://www.cycling74.com/products/dlpluggo.html

16. Crystal: http://www.greenoak.com/crystal/download.html

17. Model: http://www.macmusic.org/software/version.php/lang/en/id/5916/

18. Frohmage: http://www.ohmforce.com/UseFreeSoftware.do?actionfiltered=home

19. PhaseTone & ColorToneFree: http://www.tritonedigital.com
20. FuzzPlus:

Some of the plug-ins might have their own installer. If not, put the
.component files into the following location:

Macintosh HD (or whatever you
ve named
yours)/library/audio/plug-ins/components

Now when you insert a plug-in or synth in Logic it will be under the AU
category.

If you weren
t there you missed some great stuff. And, we hope to see you at
next months meeting July 27th. Also, if you have any ideas/needs for
demonstrations please let us know and we
ll do our best to accommodate
everyone.

Have a great 4th and see you July 27th.

Logic 7.2 with MacBook

2006-07-03 by YAVUZ AKYAZICI

Hi everyone,

I just purchased a new MacBook (Not Pro) with Dual intel 1.83 Ghz chips.

I ordered 2GB memory from crucial.com.

I also bought a Logic Gold Package with EMI 6|2 at eBay.

I also have a Digi002.

I want to upgrade to Logic Universal (7.1 for $299.-) and use it with either
EMI 6|2 or my Digi002.

Will this work?

Apple store sales Rep told me MacBook's are not intended to be used with Pro
Programs like Logic.

I was shocked but I did not say anything.

In worst case scenario, I know PT LE works with it but with these specs why
it should not work, I do not know.

Any heads up?

I thought thats why apple rushed LogicPro 7.2 out last January, so it would coincide with the macbooks with intel chips.

I do not have a Macbook with intel chips.

But I do have both an EMI, and a MBox (1).

I have problems making Pro Tools and Logic staying operational in the same computer.
One or the other gets into some QUIRKY stuff! Playing samples at half speed, eventhough
sample rates are set correctly everywhere. PT won't even boot up now, with "error 6003"
messages. I'm afraid to fix it because I NEED Logic to be working, and would LIKE PT to be
available also.

Thought my experience would be interersting for you to learn.
