GPO and Kontakt2

GPO and Kontakt2

2007-01-17 by Tim Stephen

I have logic 7.2 on a new macbook. I installed Kontakt2 and I
installed Garritan personal orchestra. Neither show up in Logic (or
garageband). The GPO site information does not seem to be helpful.
When I previously installed Kontakt2 on my old G4 it didn't need
anything special to be recognized by garageband. Now I'm stuck. Can
anyone help?

Thanks,

Tim

I installed GPO without much probem. There is some update on their website.

NAMM

Hey I was at NAMM today. Anyone else? They had some great Logic demonstrations -
standing room only. And some cool dual 30 inch monitor setups on display. I noticed they
were both plugged into the same graphics card.

Hey Tim,

Sorry for the late reply.. I was away...

The new Mac Books are Intel Chips and the old G4 is well.. a G4 chip..lol ! G4 to Intel is a
big step, so you'll need to do a little foot work. You'll need to check for updates on the
plug-in sites for Universal Binary versions of the Audio Unit [AU] for those plug-ins. I have
Kontakt2 myself and had to switch over to the "Universal" version, before logic would see
it on the new Intel Chip.

Get info on the Kontakt2 or Garritan standalone version or the installer app or plug-in, it
should say "application (universal)" right at the top. If it doesn't you'll need to search the
sites for the Universal version. If it does say Universal and you still don't see it in Logic, try
re-running the plug-ins manager [under preferences] in logic.

Also remember there are still a lot of companies that have NOT ported their applications
and plug ins to Universal Binary yet [espeially smaller companies]. What I do in those
situations is I still keep a few "old" NON Universal Binary versions of music apps [Logic -
Live, etc] around, and run my old plug-ins that way. It forces "rosetta" to run them in G4/
G5 mode and your old stuff should be available. I then process and save the tracks-plug-
ins I needed as audio files, and import that audio file into the newer version of Logic for
mixdown, etc..

There is also a "VST to AU Adapter" by FXpansion, BUT.. I'm not sure it actually converts or
"wraps it" to a compatable Universal Binary format. Either way, its a inexpensive program
you may want to have .I got it, ran my plug-in thru it and suddenly a chunk of my VST
plug ins were available in Logic.

Hope all this helps. At last hope, you can try calling Apple for support.

Thanx !

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
