With Logic you should use AU. Those are the only format which will work 
unless you buy a special VST-AU adapter, which are about $75. There are some plugs 
still which are only VST and not AU. So if you really need a VST plugin you 
need to run the wrapper - or do as I do, and use Live or Melodyne for those. 
(Apple owns Logic and so they don't support VST, but other companies know to 
provide what the market wants, rather than try to force the market.)
