Melodyne Question

Melodyne Question

2007-03-22 by tomdcarden

Anyone here use Melodyne? I'm having to use it extensively but having
some problems. What it can do is amazing! but it's not without it's
uh,..shortcomings.

Just in case someone know this, here's the email i sent to their tech
support. Thanks all, in advance.

Here's a repeated problem i'm having with Melodyne that i'd like to
overcome.

I'll start with a new Logic song, transfer the vocal track via the
bridge into a new Melodyne arrangement and then save. i'll edit, and
save again. what i want to do then, and can't, is close the current
logic song, open a new one, with a different tempo, and play. (both
the LSo and Mel Arr.)
but Melodyne will not play with the new Logic Song. It's seems to only
play with the Logic song that originally created it.

Here are the steps i take once in the new song.
1. First i close out all the files and reopen, Logic first.
1. Create an instance of the bridge in an empty track.
2. from the bridge window, select the Melodyne Arr. file to be played
3. select the right track in the 'Connect To' pull down menu
4. click the playback button.

What am i leaving out, or doing wrong?

I have Melodyne too and its quite useful. But I just use it separately
(create audio in Logic, process in Melodyne, then import back to Logic). So I can't
be of much help. Did you try the new plug in version, rather than using the
bridge?

I went from UNO to the plug-in. Less fuss and works great. You may be
entitled to a discount since you already own one of their products. If u use the plug
in you can bounce , freeze or export the audio remove the plug-in and then
import it into the song with the new tempo. Melodyne will then time stretch the
audio to fit the new tempo.

I wasn't aware of UNO Joel, will check it out thanks.

Yeah the plug-in is faster and easier but in the other Arr. version, (using bridge) there's an
option to use another track (i.e., drum loop), as a quantize reference. it's really awesome
to manipulate percussion loops and use that feature.

am having to use Melodyne in an extreme way. taking vocal tracks that are completely out
of time, in another key and match to new logic songs key and tempo. but it;s kind of fun
though.

Hi,

I bought Melodyne just before they came out with the plug-in. The
bridge makes you jump through a lot of hoops - it works but was
frustrating. I was delighted when the plug-in came out - seems to
work much, much better. The plug-in is free in some instances
depending on when you purchased and what version. Hope that fixes
your situation.

Peace,
