Yamaha 01v is being an UNSTABLE controller for Logic

Yamaha 01v is being an UNSTABLE controller for Logic

2007-07-29 by pete_buchwald

Well,

My excitement is pretty short lived here, and I'm losing heart.

Each of the Yamaha's 14 faders also controls output to 4 Aux tracks, so I started
assigning them as "banks" so in Logic I could control ... a LOT of tracks, I was hoping. But
I got 28 more tracks assigned that way ... then Logic got ticked off and stopped
recognizing the MIDI from the Yamaha.

It may have got ticked off when I tried to move 5 faders at the same time?? 3-4 worked
fine ... so I don't know. Maybe toggling between standard and Aux fader positions some
MIDI data got kind of confusing for Logic for a second??

I'll probably resort to assigning 8 controllers to Audio tracks, 8 controllers to
Instrument tracks, and 8 to Bus channels. With my typical work format that should help
me .... assuming I can get Logic to move my yamaha faders.

This is probably too much information for some of you, but this study could help
people in the future.

If older, digital mixers can work as good MIDI control for Logic ... that would be a
great resource for Logic users!!

      Pete

Pete,

What do you see when you do Preferences->Controller assignments? Can
you clean up your fader assignments from there?

I think in that window you have to delete one by one. There's not a "reset" or "delete all
assignents."
