Apparently all your bus routing all goes to shit when you open 7.2 projects in 8.
Has anyone come across this?

It definitely changes stuff. In Logic 8, Busses are considered legacy (ie obsolete.) I haven't
had anything change, but the way busses/auxes are displayed in the mixer pane has
changed, All the auxes and stuff now appear at the end of the list. I'm not in front of my
studio mac at the moment, but there is an option to show the mixer pane as it appears in
your arrange page, I just can't remember the option, well its under View in the mixer pane.

There is a definite move towards thinking of busses as conduits rather than objects. For
old songs (ie pre logic 8) your busses will (should) still be there, but for new songs
(created in 8) busses are something you route through, not to, so you would put plugins
that you 'bus to' in an aux. Signal flow would look like;

Audio Track/Software Instrument -> Send To Bus x -> Aux (with input set to bus x) ->
Output (or another bus)

or for grouping (mixer style, not Groups)

Audio Track/Software Instrument -> Output set to Bus x -> Aux with input set to Bus x -
> Output (or another bus)

Hope this helps,

Mike
