Apple Logic Pro /LogicExpress Discussion

I was trying to use some loops from the World Music Jam Pack and  
noticed that all the Klezmer Bend Guitar loops claimed to be in Dm,  
even though some of them were just a straight Cmaj chord.  So I tried  
to edit them in Loop Editor, and it didn't recognize the .caf file  
format, and then tried using Apple Loops Utility, which could load  
and edit them, but couldn't save them.  Any thoughts on this?  Can I  
just change the extension to .aif, or do I have to use some  
conversion utility?  And why would Apple release loops in a format  
that it's own utility can't handle?
