Screwed up Jam Packs

Screwed up Jam Packs

2008-07-23 by Gregory Anderson

Is anyone else using the Jam Packs that came with L8? If so, have
you noticed that the metadata are wrong on a lot of the loops? Take,
for example, Klezmer Bend Guitar 09 from the World Music Jam Pack.
In the loops browser, it says it's a D minor chord, but in reality,
it's a C major chord, so the transposition is wrong when added to a
song. When I load it into Apple Loops Utility, the metadata show D
minor, but it plays in Bb, Lord knows why, but it doesn't matter
anyway, because CAF files edited in the ALU cannot be saved.

So in order to use this loop, I have to use Switch to convert to aif,
then fix the metadata in ALU, then save as an aif apple loop. The
sheer number of these wrong files makes using the jam packs slightly
worse than not worth it. I keep thinking I must be doing something
wrong, because this is a fairly major bungling of a product by a
company that doesn't bungle much. So if anyone can show me that it
is user error on my part, I would appreciate it.
