if you trash the prefs and find it does help the problem but fear
they will become corrupted again the thing to do is: after you have
rebuilt them but before they become corrupt you should safe the prefs
in the "golden" state in a folder named "logic pro good prefs" and put
it in your applications folder so that you can always find it when you
need it. You should also put copies of other prefs relating to
operation of your computer when you work with logic in there as well.

Can you list exactly which preferences and where they are located?

Nope wish I could. But one could start with any preferences related to
input devices or preferences for IOs etc.

Also, this is not related specifically to your comments but logic
stability in general, people think that just because they have not
instantiated a plugin it should not be affecting Logic stability. I
can understand why they would think that but it is wrong. When logic
starts up it essentially integrates every plugin in the components
folder into itself so it is not only possible for non active plugins to
destabilize logic it is a documented fact.

The only way to get plugins out of logic memory space is to actually
use another host like DSP quatro and then route it to logic externally.
This is not the most elegant solution in the world but it is a way to
use plugins that fail validation or VST plugs in logic.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
