Postings Help Needed (sort of OT, but is it?)

2005-02-08 by msirt@earthlink.net

Could anyone here step me through ways to avoid the poor way my
message text wraps when posted? I've tried all methods that seem
available - wrapping 'on' or 'off' and still my message bodies post as
craggy as a glacier. I can't seem to find answers to this in Yahoo
help.

With apologies for prior craggy messages,

Michael

That is always bugging me too. Makes things very hard to read. I
think it must be a list setting somewhere that is causing it. Would
that be it Mr Moore?

Your messages wrap just fine for me. Does the above seem bad to you?

I bet this is something which depends on the software you are using to read
the messages. The messages look fine to me - in AOL (on system 9 and X). So I
don't know what the problem is. If anyone knows of some yahoo setting please
let me know what it is and I'll be happy to change it but I have not seen
anything.

Hmm.

Try narrowing the width of a window and see what happens.

There are obviously returns getting put in somewhere.

It somehow appears that there is some standard way to tell mail readers
that text is quote text without using the > marks and thus have it both
appear quoted but wrap properly at any window width. I have no idea
what that setting would be but since that is the way it works on the
LUG but not here I am guessing that it is a list setting.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
