Virtual Instruments magazine announcement

Virtual Instruments magazine announcement

2005-03-02 by Nick Batzdorf

With the kind permission of our list owner GAmoore, I'd like to
indulge you with an announcement.

As most of you know, software-based musical instruments - virtual
instruments - have been having a huge effect on the way music is
created. That's especially true at the commercial level, but nowadays
everyone with a computer has access to some pretty serious tools.
Everyone with a Mac gets GarageBand, for example, which is a lot more
than just a toy. And the instruments that come in Logic Express and
Pro are as serious as anything out there.

There's a vibrant sub-culture of musicians and developers all over
the world who are way into V.I.s. (and sample libraries, of course).
Scandinavia and the Netherlands are hotbeds of V.I. activity, there's
a lot going on in Australia - it's all over. Even Russia. And it's
growing quickly.

A while ago it occurred to me that this rather exciting new musical
medium deserves its own magazine. And being an ardent user myself, as
well as knowing a little bit about putting a magazine together (as
you may know, I was the editor of Recording magazine for over a
decade), I felt qualified to be the guy to spearhead it. :)

And the rest is turning into history. Virtual Instruments magazine's
mission is pretty simple: to help musicians get the most from their
V.I.-based rigs.

I've managed to put together a world-class team of writers, who are
turning in really great articles - and I say that as an enthusiast as
well as a man with an ax to grind. You'll recognize some of their
names - these are all highly credible, experienced people.

So please visit our website (www.Virtualinstrumentsmag.com). Check
out the cover and table of contents, and if you like what you see,
please support the magazine by subscribing.

Many thanks, NB

Re: [Logic_Cafe] Virtual Instruments magazine announcement

2005-03-02 by GAmoore@aol.com

I am really looking forward to this new publication. I have known Nick online for some years, and read his editorials when he was the editor or Recording Magazine. I've always been surprised how someone fairly high up makes himself available to participate on the Logic lists and help a lot of people with great advice. So I am sure this new magazine is going to be great and I am subscribing myself!

Its really a great idea. I have found that when I browse the existing US and British music magazines that I pretty much skip all the new control surface reviews, and fruitlyloops how to's, and $5000 Hartman synth reviews - and focus on the virtual instruments and plugs - whats new? what are the reviews? Any help with programming patches or getting greater functionality out of what I have?

So I think Nick is right on the money with this new magazine. And its really inexpensive. An entire year of this new magazine costs less than I pay for a single issue of some of the British magazines. So its deal!

Logic Instruction Manuals for Sale

2005-03-03 by Jon Zaremba

Hi There,

I'm not sure if anyone on this list is in need of the offical paper Logic
user manuals from the past few years...but I've got a pile here that i'm
looking to unload. I've had all of these classic versions sitting on my
shelf for years and am not sure what i should do with them. It seems silly
to throw them away, so i figured i'd ask here if anyone needs them.

Here's what i have to sell:

4.0 Owners Manual (in original Emagic binder)
5.0 Installation Manual
5.0 Introduction Manual
5.0 Reference Addendum
6.0 Platinum Reference Addendum
6.0 Pro Reference Manual
6.4 Installation Guide
6.4 Getting Started Guide
ES1 Owners Manual (spiral)
ES1 Users Manual
ES2 Owners Manual (spiral)
ES2 Users Manual
EXS24MKII Users Manual
EVOC20 Users Manual (spiral)
EVOC20 Users Manual
EVB3 Owners Manual (spiral)
EVP88 Users Manual
EVD6 Users Manual
Space Designer Users Manual
ESB Users Manual
PTHDEXT Users Manual

I'd like to sell them all together at once. I'm asking $15 plus shipping
costs, but if you want them, just make me an offer. If you let me know your
zip code, i'll give you an estimate in shipping. They weigh about 15 pounds
total. You can see my positive feedback on Ebay under the ID of
SAVETHEUNIVERSE.

If you have any questions, please just ask.

Thanks,
Jon Zaremba

If you don't get a buyer for the whole package, I'd be
interested in the EXS24MKII Users Manual.

Thanks

Chaz
