Mine is a 3.77 to 1 Cortina rear. I've seen different articles and
write-ups with 3.2:1, 3.6:1, etc. Don't know exactly but if you have
185/70R13 tires your ratio works out to 4.2:1 ??. I assume you were not
in overdrive?

I figured mine out by placing a mark on the driveshaft and measuring how
many turns it went for one revolution of the rear wheel. Or pull the
rear and count the teeth (not fun).
I've heard that Essex thing myself. I think from the Land Rover guys
who use them as a great engine swap (lots of torque).
