Thanks to everyone who responded to this thread!
After exploring my options, (which turned out to be very
limited) I ended up with a type of collector car insurance.
My car is a 1984 Marcos that I purchased from Hayes Harris at
Wire Wheel Classic Sports Cars (Thanks Hayes!).
Because of the year, I'm running into all kinds of
hassles.
Insurance was very tough to get because regular insurance
companies consider the car a "grey market" car and collector car insurers
require that the car be older than 25 years in North Carolina.
So, I ended up getting insurance through a company that is
somehow able to insure it, but does limit my mileage.
To add to my nightmare, I live in an emissions county in
NC.
Thus, they are telling me that the car has to pass
emissions!
I'm still working on that one.
Sheesh!!! If I ever get this thing on the road, I'll be one
happy man!!!!

I also explored "collector insurance" and found it too limiting.
In Minnesota it's the law that your regular Insurance carrier must
cover any "special interest vehicles" as well. After informing my
Farmers Agent of this, he was able to push underwriting to come up
with coverage, it's about $ 300.00 per 6 months, and the winter
coverage(storage only) is under $ 100.00 --- so for about $ 400.00
a year I'm covered wherever I go. This is the 4th car for 2 drivers
(no teenagers any more!)so thats reflected in the rate as well.
By the way, what year/model are you getting?
