For what it is worth.... When I was in the
research phase before buying the wheels I now have on the car I found that most
(all) wheel dealers wanted to know four things... 1. Bolt pattern spacing.
2. Diameter of wheel. 3. Width of wheel (rim) 4. Back spacing. There didn't even
want to talk or discuss "off set" since there are at least 2 ways to calculate
"off set" . In essence they were saying, "tell me the 4 things I have asked for
and "off set" (what ever it might be) will take care of itself.

After a lot of searching, the generally accepted +/- offset deal is best
looked at as front wheel drive cars have positive offsets. Older rear wheel
cars tend toward negative offsets. A "deepdish" or "chrome reversed" wheel
has a NEGATIVE offset.
