Larry here,
A word of advice about powder coating the frame.
As good as powder coating is, I have run into a serious problem that can be disastrous over a period of time. With powder coated finishes moisture can become trapped between the coating and steel which will go undetected until it is too late and wallah structural failure. This has been the case in several project I have been involved with in the electric car and aviation industries over the past 22 years. Several motor mount failures in the electric car business alone.
The de-greasing operation is done with heat in most cases and leaves the substrate completely vulnerable to corrosion as most of the coatings are hydro-scopic in nature.
For longevity, I would recommend a metal etching primer and a top cost of either a good automotive ENAMEL or Rustolium.Do not use lacquer.
I had a Model 'A' Ford frame that was done with rustolium gloss enamel in 1964 and when I got rid of the car in 1992 it still looked new with no rust anywhere on th frame.
