Lionel,
That's good information to start with. Yes, I would appreciate an
excerpt from the Zodiac manual. I still need to find one. If you can
give me specifics on which model/year etc - or even a specific manual to
look for, then I can start searching for one of my own.
It feels like I can get the tranny into every gear, but it takes some
effort and searching. Looking at the linkage, I don't see a single
bushing anywhere - just big holes with little pins and lots of slop.
As for the woodwork, I am a bit concerned about the bottom panel that
goes under the rear axle. It's eaten away in a few places. There's no
way I can get this car back to England for repairs, so any pointers on
repairing that section would be very helpful. Also, any info on where
to find new rear bushings (where the "trailing" arms mount to the
chassis) would help.

In fact this wood chassis Marcos is my second Marcos.
I owned the first one (1970 steel chassis) in 1976. When I sold her a
year
later( baby coming!), I kept a spare bush from the gearboxe and the
original
keyfob (in case!!).
I sold my 3000ML tvr to bought this "new" Marcos. it's not possible to
get
new bushes , a friend of mine made new ones in aluminium from my spare.
The
main trouble I found on the gearboxe was the impossibility to correctly
engage rear and 3+4 gears. I stripped the all linkage to find missing
clips
everywhere. Now it's perfect. I took away the switch inhibitorfor the
overdrive, i have now an overdrive 2nd gear ( i fit a small lamp between
the
2 indicators on the panel to remember the overdrive before selecting
rear
gear...). I fit a small push button on the steering wheel, it easier to
cut
the overdrive between changing of gear , you get greater pleasure and
acceleration).
Be careful with the woodwork around the axle, it's a very important part
of
the chassis with a lot of stress ( rory advices not to fit polybushes
for
the axle anti tramp bars ecause of the stress to the rear part of the
chassis).
Have you got the "ZODIAC" manual? if you need i may mail the chapter on
the
gearboxe and O.V.
