RE: [MarcosManiacs] Any advice on Shock absorbers for 1600GT??

2005-04-08 by pauldransfield@iname.com

Hi Paul,
If you deal with AVO (I'm very happy with their shocks and springs fitted to my car) and you decide to replace your springs at the same time (highly recommended), insist and stress that they provide you with 12" springs. Even though I did so myself, they initially substituted shorter springs which they considered to be a better match. Of course, even with full height adjustment, the springs would have been too short. I wasted a lot of time persuading them to send me a set of 12" springs. The first set they sent me were wasted because it would have cost more than they were worth to return them.

Paul,
Select Marcos and voila!
I've got them and they are adjustable in ride height and damping.

Apologies to all if this has been covered before!!

Can anybody tell me where in UK I can source front shock absorbers for
my 1968 1600GT. These differ from so-called standard shockers in that
the top mounting fixture is horizontal as opposed to other cars (e.g.
Triumph GT6) vertical fixing.

Any info gratefully appreciated

Cheers
