RE: [MarcosManiacs] Digest Number 829

2005-07-06 by Dransfield, Paul

If I recollect correctly my conversations about the car with Dave over the
years, I'm pretty sure it was strictly a racer in its original form. In its
current stage of rebuild though, you very likely could opt to restore it
either way. As Ron alluded, there remained a substantial amount of work to
be done before completion. Knowing how long Dave worked on the car on and
off (at least 20 years, believe it or not) and the trouble to which he went
to reproduce components authentically, it would be nice to know it went to
someone who would be dedicated enough to see the project through to the end.
The one time I saw the project, at least 15 years ago, the wooden chassis
was a work in progress and a long way from completion. Every year at the
Ancaster British car show (Dave was one of the volunteers), I'd ask him
about the progress, and the usual answer was that he had less and less time
to devote to it, especially after his children were born. The joke between
us was - Would he or Colin Feyerabend have the longest restoration project
in the history of Marcos. If you knew Colin, you'd understand the
significance of that statement.

I'd love to see your photos of the car, Ron, if they're available in digital
format.

Regards,

             Paul
