Mike,
There is a 1981 Mantula build manual on Mark Saxby's site (about 3Meg). Might help.

Subject: [MarcosManiacs] Heater Controls

Upon further evaluation of my new car I have found that the slide bar
heater controls were never connected. The electrical wiring consisting
of three large gage wires (hot, ground, a ??) and 2 smaller gage wires
were bundled and tape back into the harness. The car was a california
car and fitted with A/C (who needs heat??). Well here in VA you gotta
have defrost or its gonna get right difficult to see at times. It
appears that the heater coil is behind the fresh air vent connection
under the bonnet. The coil was piped to the motor (V8) but there is no
fan, supply air hose, temperature control valve etc. Any help on
getting this to all work would be greatly appreciated. I will post
some pics in the next few days.
