Jeff . . . On my Spax Shocks, there are 2 adjustments: 1. The barrel of the shock is threaded, and the bottom support ring for the spring runs up and down on the threaded barrel. I can screw the support ring up and down to vary the distance from the support ring to the bottom shock absorber mounting. This varies ride height. 2. At the bottom of the shock, there is a little screw set into the barrel of the shock. You can turn this to vary the amount of damping (works equally on both directions - extension and compression - and rebound from both). Full counterclockwise is the softest setting. There are 28 positions - when you are turning the screw with a screw driver, you feel a little detent every 45 degrees. A clockwise adjustment of 28 detents gives maximum hardness. Spax say that you can keep turning beyond this, but it makes no difference to the ride, and may result in damage to the shock's internals. The above is for the shocks that I just got. If yours are older, the details may differ, but I suspect the same basic ideas hold. Regards . . . OK, This is a silly question I know, but how can you tell if you have adjustable shocks and how do you adjust them? My Spax have little gold screws on the side near the bottom of the shock (the end near the ground). Does that mean they are adjustable? If I wanted to lower my nose, what would I have to do besides compress the spring around the shock?
