Hi all, here in Germany we were told that Spax went bust and has a new owner. This principally is not a problem, but the new owner is selling all the old stock and you should be very sensible looking for the production date of the shocks. A few of us got 6 year !!! old dampers - surely NOS -, but you get problems if you have to reclaim, because the new owner told "it is the former company" and you got nothing. Beside this we use on our Marcos since 3 years GAZ dampers. The founders are former Spax ingenieurs, the dampers have a phantastic finish & quality and the prices are a bit higher than AVO but much lower than Spax. Link: http://www.shock-absorbers.co.uk/find.aspx AVO as well is principally Spax, the management bought the Spax production the moment they left the Channel Islands and went to UK. Sometimes on the Marcos you have to buy new springs using the AVO because the springs can touch the body of the AVO dampers. Hope this will help a bit.
