RE: [MarcosManiacs] Marcos Parts

2008-03-11 by TVRCCNA

Mike,
I think this is the same message you sent me previously. I have a
Superflex order in and it should be shipped out the first of the week to
me from the UK.
As for the rest of the Marcos parts, it may be 10 days to 2 weeks on
those.

Thanks,
Marshall

Hi Marshall,

I would like you to include in your order a pair (one left and one
right) headlight cover for a 1966 Marcos 1800 for me. The 1800 headlight
covers are different from the later models so please make sure that the
headlight covers are for the 1800. The covers are also different from
side to side. I have bought a set from Rory McMath before so I am
pretty sure that he still has them in stock. Please let me know when you
have them so I can give you a credit card number and shipping address.
I see that you sell the Superflex brand of poly bushings. I would like
to change my Marcos over to Superflex brand of bushings. My aim is to do
the complete car. My car has a 7/8 front roll bar but other than that
the suspension is stock. Here is what I think I need. Feel free to
comment or ask questions;

    Quantity SuperFlex part# Description Comments

2 (one set) SPF0755/22.2 7/8 Anti Roll bar bushing This will only fit
my car. All of the earlier cars (like mine... wooden chassis) use a
11/16 Anti Roll Bar. Later cars (steel chassis) didn't have an Anti Roll
Bar.

2 (one set SPF0941 Steering rack mount This should be the correct part
number but I am not absolutely sure. If memory serves, the Marcos uses a
modified Spitfire steering rack.

8 SPF0478 Front inner Wishbone This should be the part# for the Front
inner wishbone to chassis connection . The front suspension is from a
Spitfire.

2 SPF1321 Front Suspension Trunnion This should be the part number for
the outer lower connection point between the wishbone and the steering
trunnion. Once again, it is a Spitfire part.

3 Trailing arm bushings I don't have a part number for this unique
Marcos part. If necessary I can measure the eye on one of the arms. I
need 3 because one of the four arms has a rose joint (Also called a
Heim joint, rod end bearing etc.)

1 MCS 1054 Panhard rod This part# is from your web site and I assume
the part# is for the end with the "eye" How about the other end which
uses, as I recall, a split bushing shaped somewhat like the bushing on
shock absorbers with a stem mounting?

4 sets (top and bottoms) Spax shock absorber bushings I have Spax shocks
on all 4 corners of the car. I don't know the part number for these
bushings. I assume the mounting eyes are the same on all four shocks.
The rear shocks, however, have a stem mount for the bottom and an eye
mount on the top. The front shocks have an eye mount on both top and
bottom.

O.K., I think that is a complete list. I doubt if SuperFlex makes the
rubber "donuts" that attach the rear suspension trailing arms (which
actually point forward... should be called "leading arms"?) to the
wooden chassis. The original rubber items (which I already have a spare
set), were apparently used on large trucks in the UK as shock absorber
bushings (or so I have been told).

Hopefully you don't need to do a lot of research to identify these
parts. I will be more than happy to get the dimensions for things like
the size of the shock absorber eyes etc. On the other hand, I didn't
want to disassemble the car if you already know the answer.

I only want to consider the SuperFlex brand of poly bushings. I have
used them in the past on other cars and found that I like them better
than some of the competing brands. Fell free to call or email me for
additional information. Let me know when you need to have a credit card#
to pay for these items.

Hello Marcos fanatics:
I wanted to get some feedback from you folks.....I'm getting ready to
put in a Spring order for parts from the UK and wanted to get an idea of
what types of Marcos parts you owners would most like to see me keep in
inventory. As part of my normal TVR parts inventory, I stock Spax and
AVO shocks. Would having the same available for Marcos appeal to
everyone as well? Any other suggestions?

I look forward to hearing from many of you.
