Re: [MarcosManiacs] California Marcos owners

2013-07-19 by Robin Gilmour

Hello:

I believe I saw you race at the Coronado Festival of Speed last year.
I really enjoyed watching and you did very well moving up thru the
pack with great skill.

The Red Mini Marcos ran also but I believe he was having engine problems.

Hope to see your car at Coronado this year.

Marcos Maniacs
I didn't mean to "bomb" the whole list with my previous post and reply to Mark Petrinovich. Since Stephen replied that he would like to see my racing schedule for the rest of this season I thought other Marcos owners might like to see it as well. I have listed the upcoming racing events that I plan on attending. Earlier in the season I raced at Sears Point (twice), Thunderhill (twice), and Portland. Due to scheduling problems I missed the race at Kent Washington on the weekend following Portland. There are currently 4 Marcos cars racing on the West Coast. Ken Rodenbush in Los Angeles, races a later model wooden chassis as a Marcos 1800, Gary Marshall in Seattle, races a Marcos 1800, an owner whose name I don't recall, races a Mini Marcos, and then me, and I race a 1800 GT. The Mini Marcos and I raced in the same race earlier in the year at Sonoma. We both finished in the top 10... how about that! If any of the Marcos Maniacs are at the races where I am
racing please stop by the pits, introduce yourself and have a beverage.
Here is a link to Sports Car Digest where there is an article about the Portland Historics race... there is a picture of the Marcos on page 3 of that article. This link should take you directly to that page... http://www.sportscardigest.com/portland-historic-races-2013-report-and-photos/3/
So, here is the schedule of the remaining races I plan on attending this season, subject to "whims of the racing gods".

Are you still doing "track days" with the Volvo club? I have made my Marcos into a dedicated Vintage race car and have been racing for a couple of seasons with CSRG, HMSA, General Racing, and Solvern. I was accepted to race at Monterey Reunion (used to be called the Monterey Historics) this year which is a ?big deal". You will have to come out and watch me sometime. I usually race at Infineon/Sears Point/Sonoma a couple of times each season and that wouldn't be too bad a drive for you.
