RE: [MarcosManiacs] FW: front wheels clearance issue a6oo gt wooden chassis

2013-09-18 by Steinpom

Larry,

I went and saw the car today. I think I already have those brackets. I’ll sort through todays pictures tomorrow for you to look at. A chassis guy came in today and spent quite a bit of time scratching his head. Its clear the wheels have to come back about 2”. But the bonnet and the main body align and close perfectly and the tabs are on the front lower a-arm. So, its hard to figure out what has been altered from the factory dimensions so that that could be undone and done right.

Danny.

Whoops, I forgot to attach the photos.

Hello folks,

Happy Friday the 13th.

Here’s a bit of a mystery hopefully some of the smart ones on the list can help solve. After lining up the bonnet on the car and installing the front suspension, there are major clearance issues. I sending a long a few pictures to show how too far to the front the wheel is is the fender opening. When pointed straight ahead I can’t even insert a finger into the tightest part of the gap. And that’s without the weight of the engine and transmission which are still out of the car. Its so far forward that on almost full lock, the wheel runs under the headslight housing and trie to push the hood up. It was close when I took the car apart 30+ years ago, but not this bad. What have I done wrong???? All suggestions for a fix are most welcome.

Danny
