Re: [MarcosManiacs] Door window frame fits?

2015-09-26 by larry meadows

I am not sure if all models had rain gutters or not. Personally, I think that they make the roof line look a lot cleaner and it does keep a lot of water from coming past the poor fitting trim gasket.. On lt factory installations of the earlier (1966 - 1971) cars, it was used to hide the fact that the window frame on the right side stuck out past the roof line. On the cars that I have restored, I build up the roof line to match the window frame. This also solves a problem with the rear screen fit.

Larry

The complete set (4 pieces) is about 28.00 pounds. They are strait (without bends) so the package isn't very big. I have 3 pieces here, but you could order the 4th piece. I have not found a supplier in the states in all the years I have been working on these things.Would it help if I sent you a pattern for the roof shape around the windows? They are different from left to right side.

Larry, thanks for the reply. Don't need the bumpers painted. I will no doubt have to add material to have them match the contour of the body. Information on how they are mounted on the body would help. Became serious and fed up this afternoon. Got a grinder out and started clearancing the body around the window frames. I had fiberglassed inside the car around the roof area/body window frames some time ago, so had material. Left side window frame, to body fit is getting close. Clearance to body mounted striker is close. Cut the door window bracket (rear) Marcos installed, as it contacted the striker when the door was closed. Another problem showed up today. The door latch inside levers and pulls on the latch it's self contact the rear window frame run. Started bending the levers and pulls for fit. Crossing my fingers and toes there is clearance after bending. Where to get the drip molding around the window frames? Is there a source in the USA? Thank you for the response. I cannot believe the poor quality on the car. I should be changing some of this for better. How could anyone live with the poor fits on the doors? Steve V. Marcos in Arizona
