Hey Jack,
The bonnet hinge spigot in your photo is quite different from the arrangement on the earlier cars. Mine is a '72 with similar chassis members but the bonnet rotates on a pair of cylinders approximately 4" in diameter and 1 1/2" wide which are bolted in place of the spigot shown in your photo. The bonnet has a pair plywood support pieces with 4" holes that allow the bonnet to rotate around the cylinders.

Paul,

That is Jack's fully adjustable setup that he designed and built.
He sent me the prints for it a while ago. I can email them to you
if you'd like.

The "spigot" (concentric?)is attached to the 4 inch mounts you
mention. You really have to see the pics to grasp it.

Makes it adjustable up/down, front/back, and all points in-between.

It is also in a back issue of the CMI or MOC mags. I'll check
tonight when I get home.

Hi Don,

Thanks for the feedback. I'd be very grateful if you sent me the prints for
the design. My current setup works OK but it isn't anything to write home
about.

Paul,

I uploaded the drawings (2) to the "Bonnet Hinge" photo album and
also moved the "spigot" pic into the album.

Jack, I apologize for not getting your approval before uploading the
pics. I just realized it and will remove them if you desire. Sorry!

Great idea!

Paul,

The article on Jack's rebuild, including the bonnet stuff is in the
Spring 2002 (Issue 67)CMI news Mag.

Thanks Don. I have all the MOC mags but don't recall the article. The
current hinge arrangement is pretty Mickey Mouse so I'd be interested in
reviewing an alternative.

Paul,
It's in the Club Marcos International mag, not the MOC.

Hello Paul
Yes that is quite correct my bonnet hinges were as you describe also.
The chassis you see in the picture is one that I made a short while ago and when I did I made up my own hinge to allow the gaps around the bonnet to line up evenly. The spigot is eccentric and the bonnet rotates on a 2" bearing.
