On the road again!!

On the road again!!

2003-02-19 by Don Lattimer <donlattimer@pacific.net>

It works!! Put the gearbox in Sunday, reinstalled the exhaust,
installed the rebuilt Weber, primed that sucker and off I went.
Shifts like a hot knife thru butter. Real nice now that it's all
cleaned up and all the linkage lubricated, etc. OD works fine also.

While the gearbox was out I replaced the fuel line (had to be 32
years old). It was brittle! Lucky I'm alive.

As Mike said, the weather out here in California is nice right now
(of course a lot nicer 200 miles south where he is). So I'm ready to
ride............oh what a feelin' !!

Hi Don,

I'm happy to hear your car is back on the road. Well done. Of course, we up
in the north east are up to our eye balls in snow and likely won't be
putting any rubber on the road any time soon. But we're all really happy for
you, honest.

Do you think the snow will disappear in time for Ancaster - April 20?

Hi Ron,
Maybe it will in Ancaster but I'm not so sure about down here in New York. The snow banks are over 6 feet high in most places. It took longer to dig my car out at the airport than it took to fly down from Toronto!!!!!!

Paul

Hey guys,

I was born and raised in Geneva, NY and graduated from R.I.T. in
Rochester, NY in 1969. Believe me I know what your're going thru.
I can remember my Mom putting me out the second story window so I
could slide down the drift and shovel my way into the front door so
Dad could go to work!

I don't miss it at all. Where I live here in CA we get snow about
twice a year, at most just 6 inches. If I want more I just drive a
couple hours and I'm in the Sierras!

Stay warm!

Don . . .
Not only that, but it was a 5 mile walk to school through waist-deep snow, uphill both ways, right?

Blimey!

With all these new sites springing up, I'll be out of business! :^)

Anyway, just thought I'd join the bandwagon as I've had my car out in
the last couple of days - Just a short spin in the cold winter sun,
but it was fun and it was nice to see all those people smile as you
go past!

Cheers.

Oh! Mark
What about the latent salt. The sun shinning through the frost is a real pull I know. I am going to Whitby(North Yorkshire) tomorrow, but I fear the mode of transport shall be four seat sedanca (I trust that is the correct spelling). I shall look forward to seeing you in the summer.
