Hi Jeff
about your wiper motor. Pull out the glove box or lift off the top dash
pad. Most Brit. cars use standard wipers. Also the motor is usually grounded
by the switch to make it work. Locate a wiring diagram for a Triumph
spitfire around the 60's.

I'll let you know once I get to it.
It appears that I will have to remove the dash just to gain access to
it. :-(

RE: [MarcosManiacs] Windshield Wiper motors and heater fan switches....

2001-10-09 by Jeff Caraway

Well, my wiper motor appears to be behind the Tachometer, wayyyyyy back
in the dash under the cowl.
I'll have to pull the dash just to be able to test it.
As far as the switch providing a ground for it, it appears that the
ground is already in the harness that connects to the back of the motor.
The switch has 4 wires on the back (2 of which have power and 2 don't)
and seems to just connect a set of wires (1 with power to 1 without)
like a jumper.
I figure that this must complete the circuit in the motor and make it
work.

Looking at your broken switch. figure out which wires are connected in both
on and off positions. Usually one position supplies power to the one or 2
speed motor. The off position, completes a ground for the park switch inside
the wiper motor assembly.
