To All Marcos Maniacs,

Please allow me to introduce myself; my name is Andy Seward and it
is a real pleasure for me to join the Marcos Maniacs group.

My wife, Alison, and our two small children have just returned to
the USA after living the past two years in the town of Holtum,
Limburg, Netherlands (not far from you, Maarten Krikken!). We now
live in Carlisle, Pennsylvania.

We brought 1967 Mini Marcos chassis 7073 (nicknamed "Elmo" by my 3.5
year old daughter) with us from Europe. This little car has an
interesting history, having been a Group 4 racecar from new, driven
in events in Scandanavia by the BMC Competition Director, Sweden,
Mr. Bo Elmhorn and his driver / partner, Mr. Picko Troberg (see
http://www.picko.com). "Elmo's" racing days are over, but he
remains a remarkably well-preserved example of a Mini Marcos Mk
III. More importantly, he's great fun to drive on the twisty
Pennsylvania backs roads, and the kids like to crawl around inside
him and flip all the switches while I'm working in the garage.
Having Elmo is like having a new member in the family.

In the mid-1990s, I raced an older (1962) Marcos Luton Gullwing in
historic events in Europe. This car, chassis M2006, was also a
racecar from new. It is perhaps best known as Stephen Minoprio's
car in the 1962 Autosport Trophy racing series, which it very nearly
won outright. I made a terrible mistake selling this car in 1997,
when my tour of duty ended in Germany and I was to return to the
USA. Chassis M2006 is now sadly in Japan, and I miss it. However,
through my earlier racing days in Germany, I did make a wonderful
friend at the Eifel Klassik race in 1996 -- a fellow by the name of
Klaus Tweddell -- and we have remained close ever since. Klaus owns
some wonderful cars and, more importantly, is a kind and friendly
man.

I've posted photos of these two Marcos cars in a new photo album
(thanks to Mike Denman for all his help!). Hope you enjoy them.

Well, enough rambling chatter! I am sincerely pleased to join your
Marcos Maniacs Forum, and I look forward to hearing from any of you,
anytime.

Best Regards,
Andy

Welcome Andy,
I don't know of any other Mini Marcos in the USA except for a Mini Midas that www.wirewheel.com has up for sale. Talk about rare!
Glad to have you with us.

Hi Andy,
Welcome from me, too. Actually there is a Mini Marcos in Ontario somewhere, owned by a guy from around Lindsay who had the franchise and was trying to sell them some time back. I forget the person's name but Ron McLeod maybe knows who I'm talking about - Little Britain Car company rings a bell.
Thanks for the kudos for my car Don. It's very much appreciated.
