RE: [MarcosManiacs] Question for D Skora

On some diff casings (or is it on the diff itself??)there are stamped
numbers identifying the ratio
I don't know if this holds truse for all manufacturers

i.e. 10/39 = 3.9 ratio

Ford Leyland Standard - Triumph
3.54	11	39	3.64	11	40 4.11	9	37
3.62	13	47	4.11	9	37 4.55	8	36
3.77	9	34 or	9
41
3.89	9	35
3.9	10	39
3.92	13	51
4.12	8	33

Fuse questions

2001-10-16 by Jeff Caraway

Hi All,
I was tracing down an electrical problem in my car when I found that the
car has 5 in-line fuses under the hood instead of a traditional fuse
box.
I was considering fitting a traditional style fuse box and wanted to
know what everyone else's car had so I could weigh my options.
Any comments?

Jeff,

My car was a wiring nightmare so I decided to rewire the car
completly. I am still debaiting to use fuses or circuit breakers.
An even bigger consideration is the grouning system. My car was such
a mess because of so many owners having various ideas of trying to
make things work. I wouldl certainly advise on cleaning up the
wiring on your car and installing a centrally located fuse/breaker
system.

Jeff,
I know Marcos Heritage sells a fuse box, also you can buy the Build
manual from them, it has the wiring diagrams. You bought the red 84
from Wire Wheel Classics---right---and it has the Capri Drivetrain.
I just joined the Yahoo Capri-List group, it has lots of info on the
Capri drivetrain --- and for those of you with Capri drums brakes
<blitz@...> has Capri parts.
My car was built w/o a fuse box!!! and the second to last owner put 4
inline fuses in the engine compartment. I'm having most of my work
done, and upgrading the wiring is on the list but this winter I'm
planning on a conversion to a 5 speed, sourced from Marcos Heritage,
the Capri-list was informative but no US options, the only sporty
ratio bolt in 5 speed was only imported in ~ 500 Merkurs. This
tranny was used a lot in Europe, same 4 gear ratio's then an
overdrive. Lots of emails I can forward if anyone wants the info.

Yeah, I checked with them, but am still unclear (we have an
on-going conversation) as to if the cars came with a fuse box or not.
Sounds like I'll definitely have to get one of those build
manuals!

Yep, that's me. And yep, it has a Capri drivetrain and hubs.

Huh, what don't you like about the Capri 4 speed?

Hey Paul,
I joined the Capri list and was looking through the archives
(specifically at your conversation).
I had forgotten that we have almost the exact same car!
Oh how I would love to get the two side-by-side. ;-)

Thanks for that great lead!

Jeff,
I'm not sure what rear axle ratio I have but 4th is 4000 rpm @ 70 MPH,
I'd like to get it down for longer trips, 1st redlines @ 30, 2nd @60
with good pickup off the line---which is good for my autocrossing.
The 5 speed keeps the 1st 4 ratios the same, adds an overdrive,
current top end ~ 100, with the overdrive I've been told ~ 120. Not
that I'll use it but at some higher speed autocrosses I'll get up to
85-90, and I don't want to be so close to the max speed.
