Oakville Canada British Car Day + Mini Marcos #7073 Update & Web Link
2004-09-12 by Andy&Alison Seward
Hi Ron, Sure wish I could go! But 3,100 miles is a tad too far.... Will one of you guys have a digital camera handy so we can all "virtually participate" in your British Car Day? Post some photos if you can later! I'm finishing my aluminum front radiator conversion on #7073 today; the 100 degree F Arizona heat is too much for the side-mounted standard Mini unit -- I'm running 85 degrees Celsius already with the side-mounted rad but that's only if I generally keep my right foot out of the gas pedal. I don't want to start blowing head gaskets with my new MED high compression cylinder head, so I'm installing a custom front aluminum radiator with Spal electric fan for the moment. For my fellow purists, no.. I promise not to cut up #7073! I will have to drill 4 screw holes to properly attach the radiator with rubber grommets, but other than that I've managed to design and plumb the system in a way that will not require cutting the or modifying the car. It can all be swapped back into side-mounted configuration without problems. By the way, here is a new link to some photos of #7073 here in beautiful, sunny (hot!) Arizona: http://www.minimarcos.org.uk/memcars/7073/arizona/index.html Have a great time at the British Car Day, Ron!
