Hi Gang, I've just joined yer select group. I'm cazzer off the UK forum. Just thought I'd let you know that Me and Quiffster are attempting to get our cars across the pond and do LA to NY later in the year. If anyone fancies joining us for a beer on the way feel free :) LM500 and a Mantis in case you've never heard of us. Currently it really depends on getting insurance, we're getting there.

I don't think we're going to be able to manage that. As it stands at the mo, the cars will be arriving in Port Hueneme near LA. Quiff really wants to do Route 66 to Chicago (just to say he's done it). Then we gotta pick my Missus up from her parent just outside Utica (ish) New York before dropping the cars of in NYC. So the Bay Area and back would be a pretty huge detour. 3400 miles in 3 weeks in a Marcos is being risky enough we think :)

We're really up for the trip. Shipping is a bit of an issue as we'de sooner do containerised shipping but RoRo is looking like all we can afford. Still, as long as we take all the removable bits of the cars before the dockworkers do eh? :) If you can help with organising shipping in a container for a resonable price mate that would be blinding (err..that means good :)) We want to arrive in LA we want to leave from NY(ish) other that that we don't care. We couldn't care less which port we leave or arrive to in the UK. I don't know if I can get Quiff to deviate from RT66 at the mo. It's not looking likely. Hi, I specialise in shipping cars in containers and can be competitive with Ro-Ro on the right route. My last shipment was a Marcos (Mantaray), Morgan and MGBGT. Saves the stripping and rebuilding each end. Rt66 is great, I did it three years ago, but towing my 46ft trailer. You might consider E to W then back again as a container to LA is expensive. Hello from South Western Virginia, What a great idea and I really want to see you guys pull this tour off. If you find that your trip brings you through the State of Virginia, please plan in a tour through the Blue Ridge Parkway in South Western VA. Their are many touring attractions plus historic Virginia International Raceway which we may be able to schedule some track/show time. Additionally if you happen to be here on the 3rd & 4 of July the Roanoke Valley Virginia Transportation Museum sponsors the Star City Motor Madness, one of the largest gatherings of cars on the East Coast. This is bigger than events you will see on Rt66. Last year over 15000 cars were on display and cruising the boulevard. This year Phil Hill will be one of the VIP guests of the event. To date my 1600GT, #5179 is the only example of a Marcos that has been in this event. You can find details at www.starcitymotormadness.com I would be happy to help you coordinate your itinerary if you find your tour in this part of the USA. Mike, I have been hearing about your purchase of the Marcos from one of your TVR friends, Marshall Moore. I met Marshall at the 2004 Motor Madness gathering. We have been taking the Marcos and his TVR to all the shows here in SW VA. If you are planning on making it to the show this year please let me know and we can arrange to have the largest Marcos East Coast gathering. I also have facilities here to store your car in a secure garage while you are in town. From the looks of #8153 you certainly have a great looking Marcos. AS a PRE_Motor Madness event I am hosting a gathering of British cars at my company location which is right on the main drag, in Roanoke, VA. We will gather and have lunch and then travel to the Show as a group. Also the program indicates that Phil Hill will be one of the guests of honor at this years event. go to: www.starcitymotormadness.com for details I can understand the step child feeling as I own a 59 Austin Healey Sprite(110hp 5 speed) that at times takes a back seat to the Marcos. The Marcos is great for smooth high speed driving where the Sprite is probably one of the most fun cars to experience the twistes here on sections of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Bring your Marcos out and I will show you some of the most beautify cruising roads in the State. I know that Marshall is going to the Import Car Festival in Carlisle and may try to travel with him. Don, I thought Michael Crews lived in VA, but he actually is in WV with his yellow Volvo powered Marcos. There is a Red steel chassis Marcos in Northern VA. Just happens to be spring break (the boys are 6 and 10). Tentative plans are to go to BethPaigem in Urbana and I would have to pull some real strings to get the wife to go somewhere else. Whats there to do for her and the kids while I'm racing?? Any ideas??
