Chassis Numbers

2001-08-12 by Ronald McLeod

Mike . . .

Since I bought my Mantis new in England, and it's the only one in North
America, and it's sale will be a problem for my estate, the chassis number
is somewhat academic. However, I have added it.

Hi Ron,
I understand your point and you are probably right. And thanks for
adding your Chassis# anyway! However, My car was also bought new in
England (not by me) and there certainly wern't many others, if any, at
the time in the USA. Now 4 owners later I wish that I could document
the full history of my car. And let's not kid ourselves, our cars will
never be in the same league as some of the more desirable collector
cars. But I think we can do a better job of making it easier for the
owners to own and maintain their cars which in turn will preserve
their value. My car came with a large notebook full of receipts
documenting 75,000 miles of ownership, articles on Marcos cars, a
wiring digram of sorts, several interchange list etc. Did I pay more
for the car because it had those things? Well, I certainly didn't
haggle as much and it made the buying decision easier.
My two cents,
Mike Denman
