Updated Photos of #5179

Thought I would break the silence with a few pictures I just posted to my album. I have been enjoying my Marcos quite a bit this summer. I also had a great pleasure of meeting Richard Grantham who owned my Marcos #5179 in the early 1970's when he lived in England. I posted a picture of us on-track at Watkins Glen during the Zippo Vintage Grand Prix. Both Richard and his wife Nicky were excited to see the car after missing it for about 30 years. This was the first time I had an opportunity to get some track time in the car and I must say I was more than surprised by its abilities. This car is a sleeper on the street but on the track it is outstanding and I think it also impressed many onlookers. A month later I had the opportunity to drive the car at VIR (Virginia International Raceway), in Danville VA. I had the track mostly to myself and was able to freely drive the car as hard as I wanted. I believe I hit the aerodynamic wall on the long straight after Oak Tree Bend. The engine wanted to go faster but the car started to buffet and seemed to start vibrating violently. This made me start thinking of the pictures Richard Grantham gave me of a racing Marcos that actually split in two pieces. Needless to say I immediately backed out of the throttle and the car stopped buffeting and seemed ok. I posted several pictures in my album for you all to see. Check out the two piece Marcos it is an eye opener. Bob Magnotti
