Overdrive issues

Overdrive issues

2008-09-23 by Hampton Peterson

Greetings,
I have the Ford 4 speed with Laycock LH overdrive on my Essex V6. It is
missing the switch that controls the reverse lights and (maybe) is the
safety to keep the overdrive from engaging in reverse. I can adapt a
microswith to activate the reverse lights but am wondering if anyone
has either a part number or at least a photograph of the proper switch
and mounting. I've rebuilt the internal solenoid on the overdrive and
that is now operational but would feel better if there was a secondary
lock out in case the gearlever switch was accidentally engaged.
Thanks,
Hampton

on mine , i took away the inhibitor switch. You have super ratio between 2
and 3 and very close between 3 and 4. I don't use it in 1.
I 've just fitted an amber lamp just over the speedometer and rev counter ,
in line with the solenoide, with is on when the overdrive is engaged , just
to remember it !
10 years i've done this without any trouble (just , don't let your Marcos to
anybody, just my wife is allowed, and she cares!)

Hi,

Click on the link to see a picture of the switch and bracket. My car
was also missing this switch and it took me a long time to find the
correct one.

Marcos Heritage Spares in the UK now stock these switches
