1984 Mantula FS

A mantula in the US !

Indeed - that is a nice looking car - but RHD and bearing its original UK plates. The wheels look more 15" than original 14" or 13". but a fine car. So how do you guys get on with a UK import of this age ?

One of our guys emigrated to Canada and had to leave his Mantula behind - there was just no way he could see to get it over there. I am surprised if it can be done in the US.

Is it related to the line "Titled as 1965 Marcos" - which seems odd for a 1984 car. However the body design dates back to 1963, and the Mantula is pretty close to the original shape.

And 18.000 miles - that is way less than a thousand miles a year !

Hi Steve, Getting a car into Canada is quite easy, especially for classics. The main stipulation is it has to be 15 years to qualify, no duty on cars that old. I have brought in a Marcos and two Ginettas (one from Japan) a broker can be of huge help. I will be doing it again soon if I can find either a Mallock or a G4.
Regards to all,
John.

Hee, that was me that emigrated and had to leave my Mantula behind :(

There's a sticker on the lower left of the windshield of this one that looks remarkably similar to a Nova Scotian MVI (MOT) sticker - do other states use a similar system? If so, that would indicate that it has at least passed US/Canadian inspection....

Unfortunately can't rustle up that much cash at the moment, otherwise........

Don Lattimer

I think you replaced the coil springs in your car, do you remember the
source, size, and compression of springs you used? I've been rebuilding the
front end of my car and springs are the last item. With the weak $, Roy's
stuff is not my first option!

Hope all is well with you!

Thanks

Stephen Spalding

I got my springs from Demon Tweeks in UK. Front: 12", 250lbs.,2.25 I.D.
(part # FLK12E0250) Rear: 12", 170lbs., 2.25I.D. (part #FLK12E0170.

Back in 2002 the price was 65GBP for 2 fronts and 67GBP for two rears.
