Marcos XP at the Marcos 50th Prescot Hill Climb

Marcos XP at the Marcos 50th Prescot Hill Climb

2009-08-23 by dave1600gt

The Marcos XP web site has been updated with an article on the XP visit to the UK as part of the 50th anniversary celebrations. There is also a photo gallery (a full slide show to be uploaded once all the pictures are in) and the video page has links to the YouTube videos.

My little way of saying thanks to Ned and the family for bringing the XP to the UK!!

Enjoy, Dave.

Well, things are progressing with the restoration of chassis 5201. It would
be really helpful if anyone had a copy of the build manual they could share.
Also I've posted some photos on the Macosmaniacs site in my marcos_1600
album "Marcos 5201 1600 GT wooden chassis restoration" showing the inner
door. Does anyone have any photos of how the window channel screws to the
bottom runner. It looks so iffy that I wonder if it is correct or badly
repaired at some point in the past. Its clearly been apart before as the
car at one time was all purple with gold metal flahe and blue tinted side
windows. Must have been quite a sight. All help would be greatly
appreciated.

Hi As I have the chassi before yours 5200,
I can safely say that your pics look OK. Thats the way it should look.
As you have it apart make a new wood bottom section as the one you have looks tired.
You do seem to miss one part and thats the springloaded mechanism that is below the window glass. it´s supposed to take up the weight of the glass so that it doesnt drop down in the channel. As I went for perspex windows I didn´nt bother fitting these. (Rusty as they were)
Hope this helps
