Additional information on my Marcos 1600.

Got a reply from MHS this morning.
Engine mount rubbers price seems very high as I expect they are from a common car and could easily be sourced here, at USD prices.
Funny thing about pricing, it's often virtually the same figure in dollars and pounds.
So buying in dollars here in the U.S. saves quite a bit, $1.00 vs $1.70 to the pound!
I have replied with the details of the cars history that I have.
I have also mentioned that I do need the metal engine mounts that go to the chassis.
-----------------------------
"Firstly, we can confirm the original build as follows:
Model: Marcos 1600 Wooden Chassis, LHD
Chassis Number: 5159
Engine Number: D5248 / 18
Colour: ; Light Silver Blue
Trim Colour: Red
Extras: ; Magnesium Wheels, Stereo Tape Player, Recoil Seat Belts, Laminated Front Screen, Twin Air Horns, Interior Roll Bar.
Original Owner: Howard Goldberg, Crescent Beach Rd, Glencove, New York, USA.
Invoice Date: 12th June 1968
The car was built for Mr Goldberg in the US and was shipped from the Marcos factory in June 1968.
We can supply the following parts:
1 x Front Laminated Screen ; ; £395.00
1 x Front Screen Gasket £95.00
1 x Front Screen Chrome Filler Strip £7.50
2 x 1600 Engine Rubber Mounts £38.00 each ( please note these mountings do not include the metal brackets bolted to the chassis )
With regard to the trim, the original red basket weave vinyl for the seats is no longer available. I could possibly colour some for you, but this would mean replacing all of the sections to ensure continuity of the colour.
With regard to the chassis there are no dimensional drawings or patterns we can release. The wood used was all marine ply and sitka spruce baton.
The sizes of ply used were 1/8”, 1/4”, 3/16”, 1/2”, and the baton was predominantly ½” x ½”, and 1” x ½”.
Originally the floors and boot floor were in-filled with fibreboard. Nowadays, we remove this and replace it with ½” ply.
You must use a good quality waterproof glue, the original and what we still use today is Aerolite 306 which you shouldn’t have any problems in getting.
The areas to pay particular attention to are as follows: Floors including boot floor, torsion boxes ( elliptical tube running down either side of the car – we can supply replacement torsion boxes from the original jigs is required ), the area directly below the rear axle, and the rear bulkheads where the radius rods attach through into the boot area.
If the chassis repairs are too daunting for you, then if you ship over the body chassis unit we can carry out any repairs for you.
(I found this idea very amusing, shipping alone would be several thousand dollars, I guess Marcos have now reached the status of blank cheque builds like Ferrari's!)
We have not heard of this car since it left the factory in the late 60’s, and we like to keep the build files up to date as far as possible!
Can you fill in any details of its history? How long have you had the car? Could you e-mail a photo of the car?"
