Three master cylinder pedal assembly

Three master cylinder pedal assembly

2016-05-18 by hide809rig169@...

I am considering, attempting to make a three master cylinder pedal assembly for my Marcos V6. One for clutch and two for brakes. The front brakes would have a master cylinder and the rear brakes a separate master cylinder. Also attempt to make some type of brake bias bar (adjuster) if room, not sure on that one yet. Questions; What size brake master cylinder for the front brakes (Triump GT6). I think .650 inch ID, for the front disk brakes. Rear drum brakes (Ford Capri, rear load differential), same as front? For the clutch what size master cylinder? I am thinking this over at the present time. Car came with a tandem master cylinder from a Triumph Spitfire, did not allow the pedals to move all the way forward. Thank you for the time and information. Not a race car, I have seen pictures of this done on a Marcos. Steve V. Marcos in Arizona

Hi Steve,
I am also interested in putting a dual master cylinder on the brakes.
Do you have any drawings of your plan?
The standard master cylinder is 0.75" and the clutch is the same.

Problem with three master cylinders, at least so far. To get three in the space that Marcos provided for two. I want to use the Marcos sliding pedal assembly without making the tracks wider. Have you done any measuring or ideas? I think something can be done, at this point, looking to do the least amount of modifications.

When I got my GT about 10 years ago it came with a dual circuit brake master cylinder out of a TR6. Trouble was that it is much longer than the original single-circuit master cylinder, with the result that I couldn't adjust the pedal assembly far enough to accommodate my long legs. So, I changed out the dual circuit TR6 MC for a single circuit one that was identical to what originally came in the GT. If you can live with the loss of adjustment depth, the TR6 MC might do the job for you.

Ron,
Not done yet or giving up on the three master cylinder situation yet. My car came with a dual circuit master cylinder, appeared to be a poorly modified Spitfire master cylinder. The pedals would not travel all the way forward. Once I get the body under control, and it is coming along, I can see what can be done with the three master cylinders. Good news is; I found and bought a small air conditioning evaporator assembly, that fits nicely on top of the passenger side foot box. Hopefully no massive modifications to have air conditioning in the car (I live in Arizona). Also a small AC compressor and 70 Amp alternator. Will probably have more energy designing engine mounting brackets for the AC compressor than fitting the AC unit......I hope.

Understood on the master cylinder - same problem I had. On the air conditioning, touch base with Larry Meadows. He has A/C in his GT in Florida and might be able to give you some advice on location, brackets, and so on.
