Another site update... Already!!!

Another site update... Already!!!

2002-02-14 by Jeff Caraway

Hi All,

Yes\u2026. I have been a busy little beaver lately and have posted yet another update to the Marcos Maniacs site.

With the help of one of our newest members Klaus Tweddell, I have added a historic racing page under the Racing section. It kind of gives a brief look at some of the cars that put Marcos on the map. It also features five of Klaus\u2019 outstanding machines.

I also rearranged the Photo Gallery so that I can keep pulling photos from this Yahoo site onto the Maniacs site to keep the space here free.

I sorted out some of the photos of parts and such into a Technical Photo Gallery under the Technical section so that we may archive those pictures into a sort of pictorial Marcos parts library.

Thanks to everyone for the compliments on the site. I hope that I am making it both useful and fun for everyone.

As usual, if you have any suggestions or material, please let me know by emailing me at DovenWolf@...

Cya,

Jeff

Jeff,

Looks fantastic! I also noticed today that Rory has updated his site
and has a nice pic of the Mantis XP "at speed" in it's only race.

Hopefully this fall or summer those of us here in the San
Francisco/Bay Area will be able to get together with the owner of the
Mantis XP. Camera day for sure!!

Thanks for all your effort. It is greatly appreciated!

holidays), I'll try and get there too!!!!

Cheers,

Hi Mark,
When would the timing be good for you to see the Marcos Mantis XP? Don and I have agreed that I will contact the owners and try to arrange a meeting. Since I haven't contacted the owners yet I might as well try for a date that will work for everyone including you. The Month of July is out for me but other than that what works for you? So far Don Lattimer, Mark Petrinovich and I are going if the owner agrees to a meeting. In addition, Steve Frey and Stephan Spalding (who I haven't contacted yet) will probably want to go.
Best regards,

If July's out then August (pretty much any time) would work best. I
can't guarantee I'd be able to fit my holidays around the dates (and
we'll be staying with relatives, so there plans would need
accomodating too), but if August works for you guys I'll do my best
to be there.

Cheers,

Mark

Hi Mark,
The timing to see the Marcos XP in August will work for me (realize that I haven't had any conversation with the owners who may not let us see the XP ;at any time) If we are going to wait until August I probably won't contact the owners until the time is closer (like in July) so that the XP owners can make a firm commitment to a particular date. Does that work for the rest of you?

Chassi renovation

2002-02-26 by cat7even

Hi
Short update on the chassi renovation.
rust rust rust rust grind grind cut weld weld.

No pictures as they would show too much of my crude welding
technique. Bought a new pair of weldglasses that actually let som
light through hopefully I´ll see what I´m welding from now on. I´m
trying to keep it in period style.
Basically everything not covered by british rustproofing system
(engine gearbox diff) is contaminated. As I dont have any flat
surface I tend to make help-frames to assure angles etc. and then
cut. As for British rustproofing standards 1 layer of cheap paint
couldnt be sufficient for any period longer than 4 weeks?. I will be
going for hammerite or yacht paint this time

Chassi renovation

2002-03-12 by cat7even

Hi folks
Welded the last pieces today HOORAY
Will start chassi cleaning, derusting and painting soon. After that
its brakelines, fuellines and hydrualics. Back on with the body and
RACE TIME!
The amount of rust was unbelievable if you havent looked at your
chassi do so as I believe mine must have been dangerous.
I will change my engine gbox. Has anyone dropped the engine instead
of lifting it out?
