Hi Maniacs,
Don has told you about the Marcos article in the latest issue of British Car Magazine. The article is very good and so is the magazine. Those in the USA should buy a copy if you don't subscribe. The magazine has gotten a lot better in the last year and especially in the last 6 months. They have changed their format, have better quality, better features and some new writers. If you don't subscribe, you should consider doing so. In the next week I will be sending the Marcos Owners Club and the Marcos Club International issues of the magazine. In addition, I am sending a copy to Jac Myers and Mark Saxby. If you are in the UK and absolutely have to have your own issue then email me and I will make arrangements to get you one.
I received the 1981 Marcos manual that I bought on Ebay. It is 26 pages long and has some interesting data. It has a diagram, for example, how to re-drill the Cortina axles to fit the Triumph bolt pattern. I have heard that the Marcos factory re-drilled the axles but I have never seen a car where it had actually been done. It also has two wiring diagrams, a list of bolts used, a diagram of the various window seals used in the door windows, drawings for various brackets, a nice drawing of the steel chassis (no dimensions). A list of where various parts came from and how to modify them to work on the Marcos. It also shows how the V6 shifting lever is modified which explains why it has a "strange" throw. Those of you who emailed me and wanted a copy I will send them out next week.

Hi all,

Just got the latest British Car Mag and Mark Petrinovich's Marcos is
front and center on the cover, with Mike Denman's in the background.
A six page article with history, specs on the four cars, etc.
Pictures of each cars exterior, interior, and engine compartments.
Excellent write-up with only a few small history errors that only we
would notice!

I think I got my issue early. Normally they come out towards the
middle/end of month.

Mark's computer is down for a few days so he's not getting email at
the moment.

I can't wait!!!! Roll on 14th May - Almost worth being 40 for! :^)

Anyway, thanks Mike.

BTW, the info on the 1981 will be interesting, but bear in mind that
it relates to kit cars. They look very much like the 69-72 cars, but
things like gearboxes and axles are, on the whole, different.

The rear axle on a 1981 was mk3 or 4 Cortina, not Mk2 (as it would
have been on a 1972 car) and the gearbox is, I suspect, the
Cortina/Capri box, rather than the Zephyr (Which, by most accounts,
had a wierd through even in the Ford!)

All the best and I still hope to see some of you Bay area guys in
August.

Cheers,

Mark

Mike,

I think I copied that manual for you from the stack I got from Abbey
Silverstone. I just looked at mine and it's 26 pages also with all
the items you describe. Could you check??

Mark,

The Monterey Historics are 16-18 August 2002. And the premier Pebble
Beach Concours is the 18th of August. Both in the same area.
