Most all Mellotrons follow a similar tape response curve called , NARTB , approximating that of cassette recording EQ. Mike Pinder's MK-# 134, had three bespoke preamps within, so no in-situ EQ was provided. Tone controls on all British-made older Trons were purely passive EQ, cutting treble . Interestingly, the 4-Track Mellotron made in Connecticut, featured three-band active (cut and boost) EQ controls for each of the four channels (tracks). Hope this helps....Happy 2007 (almost here) -- Jerry K.
