Thanks for all the replies (some off-list); sounds like lots of folks are using the A-frame style. Coincedentally, someone was selling the Mirage three-tier A-frame locally, so I picked it up for cheap this afternoon. Stability is the only thing I'm unsure of with this style - has anyone ever had a synth landslide? I'm giving all the wingnuts good torque and doing a stress test overnight before loading up the gear. In case anyone's curious, I'm planning to put a Prophet 5, Minimoog, Sonic Six, Linndrum, and CR-78 on this thing (with Taurus I pedals below). Jeff - Funny you mention, my Simmons kit is gathering dust as well. I hate selling anything, but that's on my 'got to go' list .. guybrush > it seems that ultimate support has dropped their "a-frame" stands, > at least i can't seem to find them new, and only rarely spotting one > on ebay. i have a 4-tier utimate support a-frame myself, and i put > the crt for my roland s-50 sampler atthe top, and an infrequently > used roland vp-330 up toop next to it. i think i saw another brand > of a-frame recently, but can't recall the details. i find it a fairly > efficient use of space, but i use it for things that i don't really > play via their keyboards, and it's sort of pushed back behind a > couple short 19" racks that sit under the items on the bottom tier. > it's not THE most efficient use of space, but not bad, at least for > my purposes [and i have my simmons kit buried underneath collecting > dust :( ] > > it's getting harder to find "high density" keyboard racks. > i see a lot of people utilizing restaurant shelves. > they might be a reasonably priced solution, but i think they are > hard to reconfigure without removing everything and then you need > a lot of space to work with it all after it's broken down. > > please let us know how you make out in your situation. > i'm also curious to know what other people here are using. > > > ...jeff >
