Why is it that
out of the three Mellotrons on stage at last night's Änglagård gig in Belgium, the only one that didn't play
up during the set was the knackered-looking one lent by a local chap, that took
some adjusting to actually make it playable? The band's machine had some sort of
earthing problem, halting the gig for 15 mins (ouch), while mine decided, later
in their set, to slow down during large chords (despite its SMS-2), then get
horrendous tape slippage (not my tapes) on the middle A, making a near-farce of
the final number. The gig was absolutely magnificent, though - I hope a few of
you got to see them at NEARfest.
