07030--right away I remember the zip being Hoboken, NJ as back in the 1980's especially, it seemed Hoboken had a number of promoters and record labels actively marketing new music to college radio. So many playlists back then were mailed to that zip code--labels like Gulcher before they moved to Indiana, Bar None, and perhaps another half- dozen on the mass-mailings list. And dozens of bands/musicians ranging from Chris Butler to Yo La Tengo. Now the Mellotron offered "sat idle for about ten years", so that kind of rules out Yo La Tengo, with their new direction of softer more ambient music being of the last four years, tho' they've been around a long time. But Chris Butler? His material utilizes a lot of unique recording intruments and some odd sounds a la Joe Meek at times, but it's another recent CD and I doubt it had Mellotron. Then again are the handful of recording studios there, and with all the quirky avant garde adventurous bands Hoboken had in the mid/late 1980's, I wouldn't doubt if this 'tron was in a studio, a number of bands not on very many Mellotron recordings lists may be out there unknown to us. Hoboken still has a very high per capita musicians ratio--I've felt that for close to twenty years out here on the West Coast.
